Five Paintings,One Freezing Morning

I am working on a series of five acrylic paintings about the Evacuation Day event on March 17, 2026. That was a freezing cold New England morning, with a windchill that was no joke.

I was working at Excel High School that day, and I saw the event — marking the reopening of the monument at Thomas Park, with a reenactment of the historical events that took place on Evacuation Day 250 years ago — as a wonderful opportunity for a historical record of this event. The paintings were created in the art classroom where I was teaching. The school has the most amazing views with beautiful skies, way up on the hill, which makes for a great setting for painting.

Two of the paintings are finished. My goal is to complete the series by the end of this year and have a public showing in the near future.

If you’d like to see the work in progress, my studio is open every second Sunday — the first one is November 8, 1–5 PM, Studio 410 at Midway.
